Continued Announcements

With Christmas approaching, Operation Christmas Child is beginning.  Any size shoebox can be filled with items such as school supplies (pencils, pens, paper, crayons), hygiene items (combs, wash cloths, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.), small toys (yo-yo’s, jump ropes, small stuffed animal, small games, etc.).  Candy and gum can be included, but NO CHOCOLATE CANDY.  The organization also asked that no violent gifts, such as toy guns and knives, be included.  Please mark on the box if it is for a girl or boy.  If you would like to wrap your shoebox, please wrap the lid separate from the box, as the boxes are checked at the processing center.  You may also bring in your box unwrapped and the Jr. High Sunday School class will wrap them.  These boxes will be collected in the north and south Annex until Monday, November 6th.  If there are any questions, please feel free to call me at 937-843-5955 or 937-441-8413.  Thank you for your generosity for these needy children.  –Shirley DeWeese

The Mission Committee

launched a project called “Change the World - Mission in a Bottle” last week.  Your spare change can make a difference in the life of a child at the Home of Peace Orphanage in Africa.  Everyone is welcome to participate.  Dimes, nickels and pennies will slide right in but please don’t hesitate to make an additional slit in the top for those quarters!!  Bottles may be emptied into the large Mission Bottle at the back of the sanctuary whenever you need more room.

The Women’s Circles

will be collecting items for Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center.  Marcia Davis is the Chairperson, and any questions can be directed to her.  Items to be collected: hygiene items, women’s and men’s clothing, towels, and school supplies.  A list of specific items needed can be found on the back tables in the sanctuary.

Oesterlen has notified us

that along with clothing, etc. they also collect Box Tops for Education, which are converted directly to cash upon submission.  But, after 43 years, the Campbell Company has decided to discontinue the Campbell’s Labels for Education program.  If you have labels, please send them to Oesterlen by December 1, 2017.

Reformation Celebration:

There will be a celebration of the 500th year of the Reformation on November 18, 2017 at the First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield, Ohio.  Keynote speaker is Dr. Jim Nestingen, who will be addressing the topics:  The Reformation 1517 - What Was It?, and The Reformation 2017 - What Is It?  The celebration will start at 9:30 am on the 18th with registration, and will include lunch, and then a worship service at 1:15 pm with communion and a choir made up of congregational choirs from across the state of Ohio.  This event is sponsored by the Ohio Mission Region of the NALC and more information can be found on their website:  www.theNALCohio.org.   Registration forms are available on the website, and also in Grace's church office.  Cost is $10 per person if registration is received before November 5th; after that, registration is $15 per person.
