Lesson # 4: “The Second Commandment – Honoring God’s Name,” p. 12-13

Goal: To create an in-depth understanding of the Second Commandment

Objectives:

Begin with devotion describing what a Christian worldview is

Briefly go over Scripture questions due for today from 1 John

Read Proverbs 1:1-7 together and discuss what it means to have “awe” for the

            Lord

Review lesson #4 stressing the positive and negative ways of using God’s name

Together as a class have students make a list of some of the names of God

Watch video which explains why one of the names for Jesus is “The Last Adam”

Complete worksheet taken from “Free to Be” on the Second Commandment

Field Trip: Paper plate exercise on how students spend their time each day (to introduce the Third Commandment)

****ASSIGNMENT FOR OCTOBER 5, 2016****

Workbook:  Complete lesson #5, p. 14-15 entitled, “The Third Commandment – Worshipping God.” Read each question carefully and answer to the best of your ability.

Memory Work: Memorize the books of the New Testament from 1 Timothy through Revelation.

 

Memorize the Third Commandment and the meaning [see tan box on pg. 15]

Scripture Assignment: Read 1 John 4:1 through 4:12 and write out the answers to the questions on the next page.
