In May, 2017, The Rev. Dr. Cathi Braasch, STS, came out of retirement on her ranch in Nebraska to serve as interim pastor of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jackson Center.   By September, the congregation voted to have her stay for a three-year term call, to help lay the foundations for a long-term settled pastorate in the future. So, the three years will be like an extended interim -- a time for God's people of Graace to get ready to meet God's future and to call a long-term, settled pastor to lead them into that future.

Pastor Cathi has held several leadership roles in the North American Lutheran Church. She served on the Vision and Planning Team that led to the creation of the North American Lutheran Church in 2010,  served as the first dean of the Nebraska  Mission District,  and later became associate dean of the Great Plains Mission District.  She led the NALC Holy Families initiative, which provides free online resources to strengthen child and family ministry in the home. Since 2011, she has served six full-time interim pastorates in Wisconsin, Minnesota,  Michigan, Nebraska and now Ohio, as well as teaching and mentoring other interim pastors.  She currently serves on the Board of Regents of the North American Lutheran Seminary and on the NALC Stewardship Team.

Since 2003, Pastor Cathi has held several volunteer chaplaincy roles in law enforcement, fire and rescue, and health care.  Since late 2016, she has been Chaplain to the Board of Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministries.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for Sola Publishing. She is a member of the Society of the Holy Trinity (STS), and served as dean of the  STS Central Plains Chapter prior to moving to Ohio.

Although she's been a sheepherder since age 11, Pastor Cathi's focus now is more and more on the two-legged flocks of God’s people in congregations such as Grace. In order to be freer to serve Christ and His Church, she has dispersed her family farming and cattle ranching operations and leased her purebred Suffolk sheep flock to a fine couple in South Dakota, who continue to operate the flock as Braasch Suffolks. Pastor Cathi and her late husband "Red"  were married for neaarly 50 years prior to his death in 2016. Their only child, Sara Braasch Schmidt, also died in 2016.
